The author discusses the function of breathing as one of the primary functions. She demonstrates the relationship between the physiological functions of breathing, rest position of the tongue and swallowing, and the disorder of articulation. This article presents a review of research and literature in the field of speech therapy pertaining to the dysfunction of speech due to respiratory disorders.
